movieguy Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 Cajun Meat Pie 2 tablespoons cooking oil 1 large onion, thinly sliced 1 bell pepper, chopped fine 1 pound lean ground meat 1 pound ground pork OR 1 pound meat dressing mix 1 cup potatoes, mashed Cajun seasoning salt to taste Pastry for double-crust pie 1 egg, beaten, for glaze on top crust Preheat oven to 375F. In skillet heat oil over medium burner. Saute onion and bell pepper until tender. Remove and set aside. Brown beef and pork together. Drain. Combine onion, bell pepper, meat, potatoes and seasoning. Line pie plate with pastry. Fill with meat mixture. Top with crust. Seal and flute edges. Make slits in top of crust. Brush with beaten egg, if desired. Bake at 375F for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Serves 8-10
