Golden Ticket Award Winners Announced

Last Sunday, Holiday World & Splashin' Safari hosted the 9th annual Golden Ticket Awards ceremony. Golden Ticket Awards are presented to the “Best of the Best” in the amusement industry calculated from an international poll conducted by Amusement Today. Representatives from parks throughout the country were in attendance. Here are the Golden Ticket Awards results, as compiled from the Amusement Today website:

Representatives from Cedar Point, Dollywood, Kings Island, Six Flags, Busch Gardens, Legoland and SeaWorld were among those in attendance. In addition, the president of the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions, the president of the World Waterpark Association, representatives from ride manufacturers and other parks, and a few other dignitaries helped present awards.

For the second consecutive year, Amusement Today recognized college students who plan to pursue a career in the amusement industry and are employed by the ceremony’s host park of Holiday World, as well as nearby Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom as Ms./Mr. Golden Tickets. "These individuals exemplify the spirit and integrity of the amusement park industry by promoting the cornerstones of safety, service, courtesy and cleanliness at the highest level, while consistently exceeding job expectations." This is an annual designation by Amusement Today to promote education in the field of hospitality and amusement, as well as to spotlight future leaders in the amusement industry.

WHR, Inc., of Cincinnati, received a Publisher's Pick Award for 45 years of promoting the business of fun. Winners of the Publishers Pick award are personally chosen by Amusement Today publisher and editor-in-chief Gary Slade.

William H. Robinson's agency handles the marketing campaigns for a number of parks, including our own Indiana Beach. When you see IB Crow, Bill and his agency are the people you have to thank.

Cedar Point Will Officially Announce 2007's Plans Soon

After months of rumors and speculation, Cedar Point will officially announce their plans for 2007 on Thursday, September 7th. I will relay information when the news is announced. Details will also be posted on www.cedarpoint.com.
