ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Brave park-goers may participate in more than 3.7 million roller coaster rides per year at Dorney Park, but nobody knows these coasters better than the members of roller coaster clubs. Dorney Park in Allentown, Pa., hosts hundreds of roller coaster enthusiasts from the Lehigh Valley, the Middle Atlantic region, and Great Britain during special coaster events held Friday, June 4 and Sunday, June 6.

Approximately 400 members of American Coaster Enthusiasts, Middle Atlantic Coaster Club, and other organizations throughout the region visit Dorney Park on Friday, June 4 for the Coaster Madness event. Participants enjoy exclusive ride time (ERT) on many of the Park’s seven coasters during Dorney Park’s ninth annual enthusiast event. These experts discuss “negative g’s” and “airtime” while enjoying coasters together.

More than 100 coaster-crazy travelers of the Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain invade the United States for a multi-park tour that starts Sunday, June 6 at Dorney Park. They also participate in ERT at the Park.

“We wouldn’t think of starting our tour of U.S. amusement parks anywhere else but Dorney Park,” states Andy Hine, Chairman of the Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain. “Our first ride is on the 200-foot-tall Steel Force hyper-coaster—what an introduction to America for those of us visiting the U.S. for the first time!”

Steel Force roller coaster ranks number 16 in the world on a list of the best steel roller coasters. Some of the Park’s other coasters are Talon, the longest and tallest inverted coaster in the Northeast; ThunderHawk, an 81-year-old classic wooden coaster; and Laser, an intense double-looping coaster.
