Author Says You Should Thank Homosexuals For A Lot Of Things

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- Shows like "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy" may have brought homosexuality out of the closet and into American homes -- but gays were having a positive effect on the culture long before that.

That's the straight truth, according to Cathy Crimmins, author of a new book, "How the Homosexuals Saved Civilization" (Tarcher/Penguin).

Crimmins says many people don't realize what homosexuals have done for them culturally.

For instance, she feels heavy metal bands would be nothing without eye shadow and makeup and points out bands like Judas Priest bought their leather outfits at gay S&M shops.

Even more important: Crimmins says gays deserve credit for making oral and anal sex less taboo.

Despite being influenced by homosexuals so much, Crimmins says America has never been the fruitiest place in the world saying, "Europeans were way gayer than we were to begin with."
