That's the straight truth, according to Cathy Crimmins, author of a new book, "How the Homosexuals Saved Civilization" (Tarcher/Penguin). Crimmins says many people don't realize what homosexuals have done for them culturally. For instance, she feels heavy metal bands would be nothing without eye shadow and makeup and points out bands like Judas Priest bought their leather outfits at gay S&M shops. Even more important: Crimmins says gays deserve credit for making oral and anal sex less taboo.
