According to a new survey of American dog owners, 25 percent say they feel more positive about a presidential candidate with a pooch.

The Harris Poll done for Milk-Bones Bakery Bites dog treats also found that 32 percent of Southerners prefer a potential president with a dog.

Dog owners don't just size up presidents by their pooch: Thirty-seven percent say they wouldn't marry someone unless they were fond of their dog.

Finally, peering further into the minds of dog owners, 13 percent say they'd rather sleep with their dog than their own spouse -- especially in the West where 19 percent prefer bedtime with Rover.
