DECATUR, Ga. (AP) - A bench warrant has been issued to arrest former Atlanta Falcons running back William Andrews.

DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Clarence Seeliger issued the warrant after Andrews failed to show up Wednesday for a scheduled court appearance on charges of theft by taking.

Andrews had not been jailed as of early Friday morning.

Andrews is one of the most popular players in Falcons history. He was a versatile Pro Bowl running back who also was active in charitable causes. Last year, he was inducted into the Falcons' new "Ring of Honor" at the Georgia Dome.

But financial disputes have plagued him recently. He twice was ordered to jail in Cobb County for missing child support payments.

And in DeKalb County, Andrews faces felony charges for two counts of theft by taking. He is accused of accepting $12,500 from a client to secure a business loan. The loan was never made and the fee allegedly was never returned.
