movieguy Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 Study: Gays Less Violent Than Straights by 365Gay.com Newscenter Staff Posted: January 18, 2006 - 12:01 am ET (London) Gay men are just as likely to become angry as heterosexual men but less inclined to turn that anger into physical aggression according to a new study. The research was carried out on 182 men by scientists from Nottingham Trent University. The team noted that this was the first time that a study on anger had been conducted comparing reactions between gays and straights. There was little difference, the scientists said, in anger levels between gay and straight men. But they found that gay men were less prone to turn that anger into physical force. The researchers said the shows that gay men are more likely to be empathetic towards others and understand people's emotions than their heterosexual counterparts. "There's not one single concept of aggression, but lots of different elements," said .psychologist Mark Sergeant, who led the study. ©365Gay.com 2006 links
