movieguy
Already in trouble, Iowa man bribes judge EMMETSBURG - A man facing prison time has been charged with trying to bribe a judge. Micah Sinnwell, 26, of Mason City offered the judge money last month, Palo Alto County Sheriff Russ Jergens said Thursday. Sinnwell, who was under investigation in Palo Alto County, was on probation in a drug case and was facing prison time, the sheriff said. On Aug. 13, Sinnwell tried to bribe the judge, who was hearing cases in Kossuth County, Jergens said. "He was scheduled to appear before the judge on a probation violation. Prior to that, he made an appointment, met with the judge and offered him money to have special consideration toward that hearing," the sheriff said. Sinnwell was being held in the Kossuth County Jail on Thursday awaiting a court appearance on the bribery charge. - AP Contact the Omaha World-Herald newsroom Copyright ©2004 Omaha World-Herald®.
